Services: Assists U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents and other immigrants with family reunification applications, employment authorization documents, applications for lawful permanent residency, and provides special assistance to immigrant survivors of domestic violence and other crimes.

Services: : A non-profit employment justice and civil rights organization. Contains the Central Texas Immigrant Worker Rights Center (CTIWoRC) which provides a weekly Worker Rights Clinic for low-income and immigrant workers; Legal Advocacy to recover unpaid wages; Tuesday evening worker meetings; an 8-week Leadership Course for workers who wish to serve as Worker’s Rights Advocates; and various other projects of education and advocacy for day laborers, low-income or migrant workers.

Services: In addition to housing assistance, Foundation Communities offers free income tax preparation to low income individuals and families.


Schedule: Contact 2-1-1 for site location and schedule information during the tax filing season.


Eligibility: Individuals are eligible for free tax preparation if they have an annual income of $25,000 or less, or a family income of $50,000 or less a year in a family of 4. The family income limit rises $5,000 for each additional family member. No legal residency required.

Services: The Police Monitor is an independent office of the City of Austin which investigates alleged violations of policy by the Austin Police Department. The OPM reviews complaints, monitors Internal Affairs investigations, and works to foster trust between citizens and the APD. Trained staff and a Complaint Interviewer can assist in the complaint process. Complainants may opt to participate in mediation with the officer and a neutral mediator.

You may file a Complaint by phone, fax, email, or in person.

Services Reception and Placement: Assistance for refugees during their initial resettlement period of adjusting to a new life in the United States. Long-Term Case Management: Help for up to 5 years for individuals and families who continue to struggle with their long term adjustment. Greenleaf Refugee Service Program: Education, Mental health counseling, and workshops for refugees and asylees. Employment services: Job training and placement for refugees and asylees. Outreach with victims of trafficking: Education on identifying victims and research for improving coordination of services among law enforcement and NGO. Immigration services: Assistance for clients with adjustment of legal status, citizenship, and filing petitions for overseas relatives. Pro bono services provided on an as needed basis.

The Clinic accepts cases through individual requests for assistance and referrals from organizations serving low-income persons with immigration issues.

Services: The clinic represents clients seeking asylum based on political persecution or religious, ethnic or gender-based violence in their home countries, as well as victims of domestic violence here in the United States seeking benefits under the Violence Against Women Act (―VAWA‖). The clinic also defends long-time permanent residents and other immigrants facing deportation, sometimes petitioning for their release from detention as well as handling their cases on the merits. In addition, the clinic represents individuals born abroad who claim United States citizenship through their parents but whose status has not been recognized by immigration authorities.
